ABSENCES

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

  • Use this form to report absences from upcoming Tuesday training nights (not other events)

  • Submitting a ticket lets us know to mark you 'Excused', but that still counts as an absence in your attendance rate.

  • Please do not e-mail the AdminO or CO to report an absence. Only e-mail staff if the absence coincides with an assignment or scheduled duty.

  • It's a good idea to catch up on any training you missed - check the Weekly Routine Orders for what lessons are planned in your level, and contact a friend!

  • Make sure you understand the Squadron Attendance Policy below, and limit absences as much as possible.

SQUADRON ATTENDANCE POLICY

More information on this policy can be found in Chapter 4 of the Squadron Standing Orders.

  1. Training Requirement: A specific minimum attendance requirement is outlined in Chapter 6 of the Standing Orders, in accordance with cadet program training standards (see also the Training Site). Failure to meet these may result in a requirement to repeat some or all training in the applicable level, or the assignment of remedial work. Failure to meet a training-related attendance requirement does not automatically end a cadet’s membership, or require the cadet to release from the program, but the resulting delay in training progression may have other impacts on the cadet’s advancement.

  1. Administrative Requirement: If a cadet does not attend regular training for 30 calendar days (roughly 4 training nights in a row) without filing a request for a Leave of Absence (LOA) they may be deemed to have quit the cadet program. In such cases, follow-ups may be made to facilitate retrieval of issued kit, and to process the termination of membership.

  1. Leave of Absence: If a cadet becomes aware that they will be unable to attend training for a period of more than two weeks, they should contact the CO to request permission for a leave of absence (LOA). LOAs protect the cadet’s membership from being terminated due to absence, but may still have an impact on training progression if the LOA prevents the cadet from meeting participation requirements. More information on LOA policy can be found in CATO 13-30.
