SPRING 2024 ACTIVITIES SIGN UP

GLIDING EXERCISES
800 Black Forest Cadets will attend 2 flying familiarization days on
Sunday 5 May 2024 and Monday 20 May in CFB Borden.

Cadets will be taken on a short introductory flight in the gliders of the Air Cadet Central Region Gliding School. Bus transportation will be provided from and to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary school for this activity. The dress for the day is weather-appropriate casual clothes, with a jacket/cap and comfortable shoes or boots. The grass on the field can be wet and soggy, so appropriate footwear needs to be worn. All audio devices must be equipped with earphones. Lunch will be provided, however, any cadet with a strict vegan or halal diet is encouraged to bring their own lunch. Cadets can also bring snacks, and a refillable water bottle.

Attendance is limited to 30 cadets per exercise, on a first-come, first-served basis. Cadets will only sign up for ONE of the 2 available dates.

FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE

Cadets of 800 RCACS will be participating in an in-person overnight Field Training Exercise at Blackdown CTC on 10-12 May 2024. This activity will be conducted mostly outdoors. Shelter and meals will be provided.

Departure details:

Friday 10 May 2024 - OLMC upper parking lot - 1800hrs

Cadets MUST have submitted a permission form and have their cadet ID card and valid healthcard in order to board buses

Return details:

Sunday 12 May 2024 - OLMC upper parking lot - 1600hrs ETA

Cadets will be given an opportunity to communicate more accurate return times as they travel back.

What to Pack for FTX:

Follow this LINK to the FTX Kit List. Cadets' kits will be checked prior to boarding buses to ensure it is complete and does not include any unwanted items.

Permission Forms:

Follow this LINK to the FTX Permission Form. The physical, signed, original form must be handed in to Administration on the Tuesdays leading up to the FTX. The cadet will not be able to participate unless there is a permission form on file.

Deadline to REGISTER is 23 April 2024.

REPORTING AN ABSENCE

To report an absence, please use the 'Absentee Request' on the left.
Please DO NOT e-mail the Admin Officer or CO to report an absence - use the online form.
If you need to take more than three (3) consecutive weeks off from cadets, please contact the AdminO to explain the situation.
Our attendance policy can be found on the same page as the Absentee Request, as well as Chapter 4 of the squadron Standing Orders.

EVENT SIGN-UP SYSTEM

Sign-up forms have been moved to the drop-down menu in the top-right of the site.
Please use the same contact info, dietary restrictions, etc., that you provided in your enrolment/validation forms.
If you sign up for an event, please show up to that event - in some cases we will reserve a spot for you, which might not be available to another cadet.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

When seeking a signature for volunteer hours from a given event, it's best to approach the officer who was in charge of that event. If you're not sure who that is, e-mail the CO.
Don't wait! It's much easier to check more recent attendance records, so get signatures for each event, or for a group of events in the current training year.
Staff cannot guarantee a signature for events which occurred in a previous training year, and cannot sign for events conducted with another cadet unit.

LONG SERVICE MEDAL APPLICATION

Eligibility requirements: must be a serving cadet, who has successfully completed four years of honourable service with no serious infractions.
A medal is awarded upon completion of four years of continuous good service, with an additional bar and rosette for each additional year.
